1066 : Interpreting the Norman Conquest en 2016
To mark the 950th anniversary of the Norman Conquest, the Royal Armouries will be holding a public lecture and two-day conference at the Tower of London.

The conference will begin on the evening of 14 October – the date of the battle of Hastings – with a lecture by Professor David Bates, author of a forthcoming biography of William the Conqueror, entitled 1066 in 2016: Putting the Norman Conquest into perspective.
On Saturday evening there will be a drinks reception in the White Tower, a building which William the Conqueror began.
The conference will appeal to delegates with a wide range of interests in the period and the schedule allows ample opportunity for Q&As and discussion with our speakers. Please see the conference programme below.
Conference fees include entry to the Tower of London and refreshments throughout.
