Our mission is to advance knowledge and understanding of the languages, literatures, history, and visual and material cultures of the Viking Age and its aftermath in the Scandinavian homelands and the Viking diaspora, for both academic and non-academic stakeholders.
We aim to support individual and collaborative research of a high academic standard, and to maximise interdisciplinary opportunities, through collaborative projects, publications, seminars, conferences, lectures, networks and public engagement activities. The Centre provides for the training of the scholars of the future by offering Masters’ courses and modules, and supervising PhD students.
